Regional hospital, printing company head the list

Manufacturing, distribution, health care and education provide a major portion of jobs in Danville, and the area’s rich soil also allows agriculture to remain a vital part of the economy. Here are the city’s seven largest employers:

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center

The 222-bed Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center is at the core of Ephraim McDowell Health, a system that serves more than 119,000 residents from six counties in central Kentucky. Besides the medical center in Danville, Ephraim McDowell Health oversees facilities such as McDowell Wellness Center and a McDowell Place of Danville assisted living community.

RR Donnelley

Celebrating its 152nd anniversary in 2015, RR Donnelley is an industry leader in the printing and binding of magazines. The company's technologies enhance digital and print communications products, and the 900 employees at RR Donnelley pride themselves on quality and customer service.

American Greetings

More than 600 employees work at the American Greetings paper product packaging center in Danville. The company’s major greeting card lines are American Greetings, Carlton Cards, Gibson, Papyrus and Recycled Paper Greetings, and other paper product offerings include DesignWare party goods and Plus Mark boxed cards.

Berry Plastics

From 1988-2004, Berry Plastics has acquired nearly 40 companies and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in 2012. The company today has grown into a global multi-billion-dollar public corporation that produces polyethylene and plastic products at several plants, including its Danville facility with 260 employees.


Manufacturing automated conveyors for retailers, manufacturers and logistics providers around the world is the mission at Intelligrated, which also designs the products. Besides conveyors, the company and its 220 Danville employees also manufacture palletizers and other storage and retrieval systems.

The Timberland Company

Footwear and apparel for consumers who like the outdoors are produced by The Timberland Company, which has a distribution center in Danville. About 140 employees ship men's, women's and children's products that are sold throughout the world at department and specialty stores.

Dana Corporation

A global leader in vehicle technology, Dana Holding Corporation was founded in 1904 and today serves three primary markets – passenger vehicles, commercial trucks and off-highway equipment. The 135 employees in Danville manufacture parts that go into drivelines, sealants and thermal-management technologies.
