From Italian and Tex-Mex to locally grown produce, you’ll find a bounty of flavorful food in Barren County.

Italian, Steak and Healthy Alternatives

Enjoy a wide variety of Italian and Greek specialties at Gondolier Italian Restaurant. With a menu featuring more than 50 items, everyone will find something they’ll love. Oven-baked subs, gyro and souvlaki plates, pita wraps, and red and white pizzas made with homemade dough are just a few of the selections available on the menu.

Come to Sidelines Casual Dining and watch the big game on one of the large flat-screen TVs located throughout the restaurant. Serving locally produced food products, Angus steaks, burgers, specialty sandwiches and more, Sidelines is a family-friendly place that doesn’t just consider itself a sports bar, but a unique sporting-themed, full-service restaurant.

Order your favorite hand-cut steak at Colton’s Steak House & Grill. Not only does Colton’s serve USDA choice beef,  but hickory-smoked ribs, chicken, seafood, pasta, entree salads and more are also on the menu. Be sure to save room for Colton’s own “chocolate sin-sation” for dessert.

Find classic comfort foods like fried chicken, catfish, meatloaf, pinto beans and mashed potatoes at Annie’s Country Cooking. Owners Keith and Diana “Annie” Rowlett, opened this restaurant on Cleveland Avenue in 2010. Annie utilizes decades of experience cooking for her large family to provide great meals for customers.

Tex-Mex and Mexican

Little Taste of Texas Café features great Tex-Mex fare with a side order of friendly service. Start off with their Texas toothpick appetizer made with freshly cut fried onions and jalapeno peppers, then move on to their 14-ounce cowboy rib-eye, Lone Star barbecue plate or signature ranch-hand knife and fork burger.

Authentic Mexican food is the specialty of the house at Los Mariachis Mexican Restaurant. Order one of their delicious combination dinners, fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, or chef’s special of chicken, rice and cheese along with one of their frosty margaritas or ice-cold beers.

Garcia’s Grill considers itself “a different kind of Mexican restaurant.” While Garcia’s offers genuine Mexican fare like tacos, enchiladas and burritos, their unusual white wine and poblano sauces give their dishes a distinctive flavor you can’t find anywhere else.

Homegrown and Farm Fresh

Fans of homegrown fare can drop by the Bounty of the Barrens Farmers’ Market to pick up all their favorite locally grown foods. Held every Saturday from March through October on the Barren County Courthouse lawn, visitors can purchase fresh-picked vegetables, meats, cheese, eggs, baked goods and handmade items. A winter market is also available every second Saturday from November through February.

One of the many locally produced foods found at the market is Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese. Cows used to produce Kenny’s products are raised without synthetic hormones and their pasture diet is supplemented with corn and hay grown on the family's 200-acre farm. Simple quality ingredients and old-world craftsmanship give special flavor to their quality handmade cheeses, including the aged cheddar, distinctive Jarlsberg-style Swiss and Barren County Bleu.
