The heart of Cajun culture, Lafayette keeps its roots at the forefront of the city’s life. The Acadian Village is one  reminder of the way life used to be on the bayou.

Found on 32 acres of land, the village takes visitors back to the 1800s with a classic Cajun village complete with construction techniques such as mud walls and wooden pegs. The village features 11 buildings, seven of which are authentic Acadian dwellings and were donated by the former inhabitants’ families.

A popular spot for weddings and events, Lafayette’s family-friendly Acadian Village is a unique tourist destination complete with an RV campground and general store full of souvenirs.
