Old Orchard Beach

Old Orchard Beach delivers a 7-mile stretch of sandy shores. The beach is full of opportunities to unwind or take a walk, cast a reel, scan the horizon for whales, or play volleyball.

The Pier

Included on the beach is the town’s well-known pier, which individuals and families can enjoy. Walk the 500-plus-foot pier, overflowing with shops, restaurants, bars, live music and games.

Performances & Music

Live music is a great nighttime activity for people in Old Orchard Beach. A number of bars, like Myst and Patio Pub on The Pier, host events so you can enjoy a cold beer while listening to music.

Seaside Pavilion in Old Orchard Beach is a popular community pavilion that showcases today’s popular artists, local bands, military bands, and even local play productions, comedies and lectures.

For more plays, head over to Portland Stage in nearby Portland to check out nationally known and underground shows. Also in Portland is Portland State Theater, a popular music venue that showcases today’s biggest musicians.

Historical Old Orchard Beach is home to Harmon Museum and Historical Society, founded in 1883. Each season, they exhibit a local interest of York County, such as the Ocean Park community in Old Orchard Beach.

Art and history are showcased in the Portland Museum of Art in Portland and Saco Museum in Saco, where you can see special exhibitions, paintings, sculptures, ceramics and historical art pieces.

Family-Friendly Activities

Board a ship at Pirate’s Cove put-put golf. Immerse yourself in a pirate’s life as you swing your way through waterfalls, caves and landscaped lawns.

If you need a break from the beach, head over to Monkey Trunks Amusement Park. Complete with rope courses and high-adventure climbing courses designed for various heights, Monkey Trunks proves to not be your average roller-coaster theme park.

There is no shortage of festivals in Old Orchard Beach.

Take a dip into the icy January waters and support the Maine Special Olympics at the annual Lobster Dip. In May, treat yourself to a day of taste testing more than 30 microbrews while being treated to live music at Beerfest on the pier.

The Fourth of July in Old Orchard Beach is big with a myriad of things to do. Enter you and your family in the annual sandcastle contest, watch the parade, and of course, marvel at the fireworks by the pier.

Push yourself at the Annual Beach Olympics, 5K, Triathlon, Marathon, and Bikefest in August and September.
