Scott County is full of opportunities to experience nature or get active indoors. Residents and visitors alike can choose from several area parks and trails for walking, snowmobiling and more. There are also many indoor and outdoor options for staying in shape, including amateur baseball, ice fishing, fitness facilities and more.

Parks and Trails

The Three Rivers Park District oversees parks and trails across the Minnesota River Valley, several in Scott County. Spring Lake Regional Park includes 3.5 miles of paved trails and an off-leash dog park. Cleary Lake Regional Park features a golf course, campground, picnic area, cross-country ski trails and a swimming beach. Those looking for a more rustic park will enjoy Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, which, except for trails, remains undeveloped and offers stunning views of the forest. Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park, also in Scott County, is another haven of natural beauty, perfect for picnicking, swimming and shore fishing.

Scott West Regional Trail connects Cleary Lake Regional Park and Spring Lake Regional Park and will connect several other parks when completed. Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail follows the former railroad tracks of the Great Northern Railway and Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway. The Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail also follows an old railroad route, from Hopkins through Chanhassen. The Minnesota Valley State Trail is another  place to experience the area’s natural beauty. Two popular spots for snowmobiling are Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve and Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area.

Dakotah! Sport and Fitness, located in Prior Lake, offers many ways residents in Scott County can stay active. Choose from a full-service fitness club and cardio room, to an aquatic center and walking and running track. Bowling is also offered, and members can enjoy a relaxing massage on one of the HydroMassage beds.
