Bare Bones Film Festival

The Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival in Muskogee, OK, enters its 13th year in 2012, having grown so significantly that it inspired a spinoff in Tulsa, OK. For eight days each April, Bare Bones honors filmmakers and showcases low-budget independent movies (less than $1 million) produced in the United States and beyond. A Bare Bones Script to Screen Film Festival, held in Tulsa each October, specifically recognizes screenwriters.

The April festival takes place at several downtown venues including the historic Roxy Theatre, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, Max’s Garage and the Muskogee Civic Center.

Muskogee not only has a film festival. There's so much going on that Muskogee was named a "Distinctive Destination" in 2011 by the National Trust for Historical Preservation.
