Winston-Salem Activities Overview: Parks, Golf

The Recreation and Parks Department in Winston-Salem takes care of more than 70 parks. Every park is open from sunup to sundown with almost 50 playgrounds, about 90 soccer and softball fields, and more than 100 tennis courts being popular spots. Even man’s best friend can play too; Washington Park is a no-leash dog park.
Winston-Salem has nearly 10 golf courses. Winston Lake Golf Course provides a tricky golf game with a gorgeous view. This municipal course’s greens and fairways are surrounded by woodlands, and the course comes complete with a pro shop full of brand-name goods.
Private course Old Town Club has been a part of Winston-Salem since 1939. This 18-hole course is home to Wake Forest’s golf team and almost 7,000 yards of greens.
The city of Winston-Salem provides almost 20 recreation centers for residents to enjoy. These centers offer both indoor and outdoor activities including walking trails, basketball courts and softball fields.
Adult Sport Leagues
Winston-Salem’s Parks and Recreation Department offers several adult sports leagues. Softball and dodge ball are just two options awaiting grown ups who want to play like kids.
