Outdoor activities are a must for visiting families and tourists who want to enjoy Las Cruces' 350 days of sunshine a year. Recreation centers, hiking, and horseback rides through the New Mexico countryside are just a few things to do with a group, while routed motorcycle tours are perfect for couples or individuals.

Rec Centers

There are five recreation centers and four public pools to choose from in Las Cruces. Pools offer swimming lessons, and the rec centers provide activities like basketball, pool, air hockey and art, in addition to gaming rooms, stages, karaoke, martial arts classes and more.

Corralitos Ranch

Located west of Las Cruces, Corralitos Ranch gives patrons the opportunity to experience the history of the southwestern desert through horse rides along the same trails that were once used by Apache Indians, Spanish conquistadors, and Old West miners and pioneers. Along the rides, guests can view ancient Indian rock art and ghosts towns, and old homesteads, which are now abandoned by their former pioneer inhabitants.

Motorcycle Tours

The Las Cruces CVB offers four different motorcycle tours along the open roads of the New Mexican desert. One classic ride takes bikers north along Highway 185 and stops in the abandoned ghost towns, making the trip roughly 200 miles total.

Another route takes bikers through El Paso and Carlsbad Caverns National Park, making the journey 450 miles round trip.

Las Cruces is surrounded on all sides by mountains, making it a great destination for hikers of all skill levels. The Robledo Mountains to the north are for advanced hikers and off-roaders due to their rocky terrain, while “A” Mountain to the east offers hiking trails for beginners. Several mountains have trails for mountain biking and horseback riding, all within 50 miles of the city.
