The 375-acre Great New York State Fairgrounds hold events year round, but its major claim to fame is the Great New York State Fair.

The Great New York State Fair is an exhibition of various interests, mainly in agriculture and technology, the state's largest and most important industries. Moreover, the fair includes carnival rides, local food and concerts from popular artists.

The fair has been held around Labor Day every year since 1841, making it one of the oldest state fairs in United States. It was founded to promote New York agriculture, to sample manufactured goods, and to also have fun events, like a plowing contest.

Another notable achievement of the fair is its recognition around the country. People come from all over the country to see the sights of the fair, allowing the attendance of the fair to be around 1 million attendees each year.
