To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee," the Muskogee, Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce has recorded their own version of the country classic--enlisting the help of some of the city's most talented and most recognized residents. A tongue-in-cheek tribute to small town life and traditional values that made Muskogee a household name, Haggard's original "Okie From Muskogee" was released on an album of the same name in 1969. It went on to win the Academy of Country Music's award for Album of the Year and Single of the Year, and earned Haggard the award for Top Male Vocalist.

Below, watch the people of Muskogee's loving version of "Okie From Muskogee"--a fitting tribute to the original and to the town where "even squares can have a ball."
