Prattville Barbecue & Southern Cooking
Get ready for some serious eating at Fat Boys Barbecue Ranch. Located in downtown Prattville, the restaurant features barbecue pork, beef brisket, ribs, smoked chicken, sausage and camp stew. Family owned and operated, Fat Boys proudly slow-cooks its barbecue over hickory hardwood and racks up raves for several main dishes as well as sides, including baked beans and hearty potato salad. Barbecue also pops up on the menu at Jim's Restaurant, the oldest family-owned business in the city. Jim's offers causual southern cooking like fried okra, stewed apples, chicken livers and meatloaf, along with cook-to-order offerings from steak to shrimp. The menu changes daily. The newest restaurant on the block is Fountain City Grill, which offers a meat and vegetable buffet along with salads and sandwiches.

Cajun Cooking and Mexican Restaurants
“Excellent, authentic" and "incredibly friendly” are words used to describe Uncle Mick’s Cajun Market and Cafe on West Main Street in downtown Prattville, where alligator piquante is on the menu, along with crawfish etoufee, gumbo and other Louisiana favorites.
Chicken fajitas, taco salad, steak quesadillas and “addictive salsa” have made Mexican Tipico Restaurant a longtime favorite of diners. The restaurant also has a full bar and a banquet room for lunch meetings or family gatherings. Another hot spot for Mexican meals is Jose's Cantina, where owner Jose Perez says "Mi Casa Es Tu Casa." The Cantina's specials include seasoned sirloin bites smothered in cheese, large Gulf shrimp marinated in garlic and lime sauce, which are pan sauteed, and traditional favorites like tacos, burritos and enchiladas.
