The O’Donnell House is Sumter’s place to celebrate life’s special events in a historic setting. Calling itself “the premier event venue of Sumter,” The O’Donnell House is available for weddings, banquets, receptions, parties and any other special event you can imagine.

Built in 1840, The O’Donnell House was redesigned in 1905 by Frank Pierce Milburn, one of the leading American architects of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Neill O’Donnell, who owned the house at that time, wanted his mansion to showcase the Neo-Classical style. It’s one of the few remaining Neo-Classical buildings in Sumter and has been on the National Register of Historical Places since 1996.

Since its reopening, The O’Donnell House has hosted a variety of events ranging from weddings to business meetings, charity dinners and community events, including the Backyard Jamboree, which raises funds for local senior programs.

A 2,000-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate as many as 250 guests is the centerpiece of The O’Donnell House. Twin parlors and a dining room are among the other rooms available for smaller functions. Its front porch and portico add to the house’s historic and elegant atmosphere. There are also two on-site kitchens for catered events. The outdoor gardens are popular for receptions and musical performances during warmer months.
