The golf club scene in Williamson County offers many links to like, ranging from a par 3 course to a championship venue designed by Arnold Palmer. Here are some of the options that keep golfers on their tees:
Forrest Crossing Golf Club This links-style public course in Franklin has water that comes into play on 16 of its 18 holes. Par is 72 and the course measures 6,968 yards, and a signature hole is No. 9 – a 361-yard par 4 that features an island green.
Nashville Golf & Athletic Club This private course in Brentwood is a par 72, 7,448-yard layout. In 2009, Sports Illustrated ranked the club’s No. 6 hole as one of the 18 greatest golf holes in the country. It is a par 3, 171-yard challenge with bunkers, a contoured green and a narrow green entrance, making it virtually impossible for any bounce-on shot.
Vanderbilt Legends Club This private club in Franklin offers two 18-hole courses – the North and the South. The North Course is a par 72 measuring 7,190 yards with creeks and ponds, and the South Course is a par 71 at 7,113 yards and has two lakes.
The Little Course at Aspen Grove The par 3, nine-hole course in Franklin can be a good learning facility for players of all ages and abilities. Water comes into play on three holes, including No. 1, a 130-yard par 3 that features an undulating green and a creek along the entire right side of the fairway.
Temple Hills Country Club This spacious private layout in Franklin has three nine-hole courses that can be played in three 18-hole combinations. The courses are called Deer Crest, Dogwood and Quail Run, with all three featuring many trees and water hazards.
Brentwood Country Club The private facility that opened in 1955 is an 18-hole championship golf course with hole No. 2 serving as its signature. This par 3 is fronted by a pond and greenside bunker, and the green severely slopes from back to front.
The Governors Club The private 18-hole course in Brentwood opened in 1999 and was designed by Arnold Palmer. It is a par 72 that measures 7,031 yards, with a No. 4 signature hole that is a par 4 dogleg spanning 417 yards.
Westhaven Golf Club This private 18-hole course is the newest in Williamson County, having opened in Franklin in 2009. The layout measures 6,976 yards and is a par 72.
