What Makes Franklin, TN, a Best Place to Live in 2024

Franklin, TN, boasts four national and seven local historic districts and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Still, this city — just 20 miles south of Nashville — is definitely on an upward, modern trajectory. While that celebrated history is evident in the charming downtown area, Franklin has its share of modern amenities that are attractive to all, making it one of the best places to live in the U.S.

The Williamson County School District is ranked as one of the best school systems in the state. That fact alone has drawn numerous companies to set up shop here. In addition, there’s a strong sense of community, with neighbors coming together to volunteer and celebrate.

Health care ranks at the top, too, with both health-related businesses and the ever-growing Williamson Medical Center serving the surrounding area. The strong business community continues to expand and join companies such as Nissan Americas, Community Health Systems, Randstad and Schneider Electric. And that translates into teeming job opportunities.

The lovely historic downtown buildings — 16 blocks of boutiques, restaurants and offices, some dating back to 1799 — are definitely part of its appeal, but Franklin is also known for local farms, shopping centers, Civil War sites, city parks, festivals and wonderful opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
