One of the best places for family fun in Tyler is Caldwell Zoo, where more than 2,000 animals await visitors. The animals are located in habitats across 85-acres and include lions, elephants, and giraffes – in the African savanna exhibit, for example. In the North American area of the zoo, guests may see mountain lions, bald eagles and bison.

There’s even a special place for snake charmers: The zoo’s herpetarium, is filled with slippery snakes and awesome amphibians. Visitors can get up close and personal with rodents, anteaters, and squirrel monkeys as they journey through the South American corner of the zoo.
Located just minutes from downtown Tyler, the zoo is open daily. Admission is $4.80 for children ages 3-12 and $7.60 for adults age 13 and older, with special discounts for seniors and large groups.
