Tyler’s food scene features a healthy mix of restaurants that offer everything from traditional American entrees to French cuisine and Asian fusion dishes. Bring your appetite – you’ll want to get a taste of all this city has to offer.

Dakota’s Prime Steak and Chop House

For an upscale dining experience, head to Dakotas Prime Steak and Chop House where you can enjoy hand-cut USDA Prime steaks, fresh seafood, sides like scalloped potatoes and gourmet macaroni and cheese, can’t-miss cocktails and a variety of wines. Located in Tyler’s La Piazza Shopping Center, Dakotas also offers live entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in the bar area, and brunch – complete with mimosas – is available on Saturdays.

Currents Restaurant & Bar

Indulge in fine French and American cuisine at Currents Restaurant & Bar, located in the Regency Center. The dining spot offers entrees such as Chilean sea bass, veal champignon and Mediterranean shrimp, as well as signature cocktails including Hendrick’s cucumber martini, the Tuaca lemon drop and the Chambord Kir Royale. In addition, Currents is a popular place for special events such as corporate lunches, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties and other gatherings.

Juls

Juls, an Asian fusion restaurant, offers a varied menu with dishes like sweet and sour chicken, lump crab and pineapple fried rice, Korean fried chicken legs and charred skirt steak. Thirsty? Try one of Juls’ house-made sodas, enjoy a craft cocktail or order one of the many beers on tap. While the food and beverages are the main attractions, diners also enjoy the restaurant’s atmosphere, which includes live entertainment on weekend nights and an outdoor patio that overlooks a water feature.

Expanded to Tyler

With its first restaurant in Kilgore, Jack Ryan’s Steak and Chophouse recently opened a second location in downtown Tyler’s People’s Petroleum Building. Jack Ryan’s serves entrees like beef tenderloin, bacon-wrapped shrimp and horseradish-crusted salmon, plus a handful of delicious desserts such as warm bread pudding and chocolate fondue. In addition, Studio Movie Grill chose Tyler for its first East Texas location, which opened in 2015. The 42,000-square-foot venue offers in-theater dining with menu items like burgers, quesadillas and pizza, as well as spiked milkshakes, cocktails, beer and wine.
