Betsy Williams has extensive experience in economic development and advocating for businesses of all sizes. She enjoyed a 20-year career in chamber of commerce and economic development management. She successfully recruited new industry to her community, assisted in the expansion of existing industry, and worked with entrepreneurs and start-ups. Betsy also has experience in establishing and then leading a Main Street program, and served as editor of her hometown newspaper. She has a keen understanding of the issues faced by the business community. Betsy is well-versed in incentives, workforce development, transportation infrastructure, health care, educational assets and quality of place – and the importance of these and other factors in attracting and growing industry in communities.
Named 2005 Professional of the Year by the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Betsy held a variety of statewide leadership positions while making her home in Georgia and was named a "Notable Georgian" several times by Georgia Trend magazine.
Currently she manages and leases several historic downtown Nashville properties, and in 2010 served as chair of The DISTRICT, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of Nashville's premier downtown entertainment area.
A freelance writer, and she will be opening her own retail business in downtown Nashville in early 2012.
