Spokane, WA Activities Overview: Outdoor Recreation

Pedestrian-friendly Spokane offers endless outdoor entertainment, ranging from park visits to ski hills to golf courses.
With more than 125 parks in Spokane and surrounding areas, spending time outdoors is a hassle-free activity for the whole family. One of the most popular parks in the area is the Riverfront Park in downtown and right along the Spokane River. This park is complete with a carousel and small amusement rides for children and a skating rink in the winter.
There’s no better place for winter fun than Spokane. The nearby Rocky Mountains make every winter an adventure with five ski hills in the area around the city. The hills, all within 90 miles of the city, are a great place to take the whole gang, and skiers of all levels can enjoy the slopes. The closest hill is Mt. Spokane, just 30 miles northeast of the city, open Wednesday through Sunday, with special night skiing times available.

There are 13 golf courses around the city. With prices for every player, Spokane courses offer variety, as well as spectacular views of the nearby Rocky Mountains. A few of the golf clubs are: Circling Raven Golf Club, named Top 10 Best New Upscale Courses by Golf Digest, and Deer Park Golf Club.
