There’s a short but beautifully colorful fall in Nashua, a major draw for visitors. Some say it often feels like the weather skips from winter into summer, with cool, wet days giving way to warm and humid weather. The average highs and lows are 80°F and 56°F (summer) and 35°F and 14°F (winter). 

The average annual snowfall in Nashua is around 57 inches, and January is the snowiest month.

The Nashua River Trail is a rail-to-trail conversion that runs along the river through downtown and is a great way to see the city. The Nashua National Fish Hatchery’s pollinator garden is a perfect place to stroll and stop for a picnic lunch. Also, the Nashua Silver Knights collegiate summer team takes over historic Holman Stadium in the summer. 

The city sponsors a whole program of free events called SummerFun that includes yoga in the park, nighttime concerts in Greeley Park, daytime classical concerts at the public library, a farmers market and more. The library also hosts a number of free film screenings.

Mine Falls Park is a local favorite. It features walking trails, bike paths and scenic picnic spots, all of which add up to a great afternoon of outdoor adventure. Many local families also like to explore the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire located nearby in Dover. There, they can take advantage of the many interactive exhibits and educational activities designed to engage budding minds.

Nashua may not be at the top of most people’s lists when it comes to artistic communities; however, the city is actually home to a thriving creative community with plenty of art galleries, studios and public installations. The Nashua Area Artists’ Association helps showcase local talent through its exhibitions and workshops, and the annual International Sculpture Symposium draws in sculptors from around the world to create public art pieces. 

In the morning, “The Monster” breakfast sandwich and a coffee from Riverwalk Bakery & Café is the perfect way to start your day. Then, shop the city’s cute boutiques, like camaraderie. Bonus: There is no sales tax in New Hampshire, so residents can shop til they drop. 

Located along the Nashua River, Surf Seafood is a favorite among locals and is known for its creative seafood dishes, lively atmosphere and charming patio. Whether you want a place to hang out with friends after work or the perfect spot to meet up with a date, Surf is a solid choice.

Many Nashua residents enjoy live music at local restaurants, bars and taverns. However, the city is known for being the home of Symphony NH. The symphony hosts various live concert events, including a current series called Game Over(ture), a symphonic journey through the music of beloved video games.  

Bonhoeffer’s Cafe and Espresso is a nonprofit, direct-trade coffee shop that roasts its beans in-house. With a big fireplace and decadent breakfast options, it’s the perfect place to while away for hours. 

Retail, advanced manufacturing and health care are significant industries in Nashua. Major employers include BAE Systems Electronic Systems, Skillsoft and G.T. Advanced Technologies. 

New Hampshire has no state sales tax, and no local sales taxes apply in Nashua. 

Technically, New Hampshire does not have a state income tax; however, New Hampshire taxes interest and dividends. 

Some of the major health care providers in Nashua include St. Joseph Hospital and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
